Voor dit bijzondere boek ging fotograaf Servaas Van Belle in alle uithoeken van België op zoek naar de meest tot de verbeelding sprekende stalletjes, om ze daarna consequent onder dezelfde ideale lichtomstandigheden te fotograferen.
En ideaal betekent voor Van Belle: in dichte mist.
Schuilplaatsen voor vee in weiden en velden zijn in die mate een evidentie in onze omgeving en cultuur dat ze zelden worden opgemerkt. Nochtans staan er in het Belgische landschap architecturale pareltjes. Deze stallen en barakken zijn een groepswerk van man en natuur, en kunnen ontroerend mooi zijn. Talrijke vormen en formaten, opgetrokken uit diverse (afbraak) materialen en met een uiteenlopend kleurenpalet, sieren het landschap. Met de tand des tijds duidelijk zichtbaar ademen ze verhalen uit, die Servaas Van Belle als geen ander weet te capteren.
